Plant Studio Landscape is a design-and-build landscape company in Muncie, Indiana, serving homeowners across the I-69 corridor and East Central Indiana from Anderson out to Hartford City. With Josh Perkins, Landscape Architect, leading design in house and our own crews handling every part of the build, you work with the same team from the first site walk to the finished project. There is no general contractor in the middle, and no design fee for a plan that gets handed off to someone else to execute. That also means one point of contact and one source of answers. A dedicated project manager keeps crews, materials, and schedule moving, and keeps you in the loop at every phase, so you are never chasing a subcontractor for a status update or wondering who stands behind the finished work. The work covers full-property design-build, single-service installation, and recurring maintenance, with material decisions and base-construction specs sized for Indiana freeze and thaw rather than a generic regional template. Most relationships start with a property consultation. Some grow into ten-year maintenance accounts, some stay focused on one project. Either way, the people who draw the plan are the people who build it.
Custom Landscape Design and Construction in Muncie, Indiana
This page is a map of the work we do at Plant Studio Landscape in Muncie. If you are starting fresh on a backyard, a patio, a pool, or a full property buildout, the seven categories below show what fits where. If you have a working landscape that needs ongoing care, you will see those services too. Every category links to a dedicated page with the practice details.
Most projects we take on are residential properties from Muncie out through Yorktown, Daleville, Albany, and the wider I-69 corridor toward Anderson and north Indianapolis. The work ranges from a single planting bed along the Cardinal Greenway corridor to a full design-build with pool, patio, and lighting on a five-acre property out past Madison Street. We treat all of it the same way: walk the property first, design around what is already there, build with materials that hold up in Indiana freeze and thaw, and finish one project before we move to the next. You can read more about how the studio is set up and who works on your project on our About page.
Seven categories cover the services we offer across a property. Within each category you will find the individual service lines we run as separate pages. Where a service does not yet have its own page, it appears as an unlinked item in the description; the work is still part of what we do, the page is just not built yet.
Design
Design is where most relationships with us start. A site walk, a conversation about how you actually live in the space, then a plan you can hold in your hand before any equipment lands. Josh Perkins, Landscape Architect, leads the design phase for full property work and most stand-alone projects. Master plans cover hardscape, planting, drainage, and lighting on a single drawing so the build sequences cleanly across seasons.

Hardscape and Outdoor Living
Patios, retaining walls, walkways, fire features, outdoor kitchens, pergolas, outdoor lighting, and the structural pieces that turn a yard into rooms. Built with base depth and materials sized for Indiana freeze and thaw, not a generic spec lifted from a catalog. We run multiple pages under this category because the work approaches diverge: full-property hardscape is the broadest scope, luxury patio design is the higher-detail end of paver work, outdoor living spaces is the integrated outdoor-room concept, retaining walls are an engineering-driven sub-specialty, and outdoor lighting carries its own design layer on every project.

Water Features
Pools designed into the broader landscape, not dropped in as an afterthought. Vinyl liner and gunite inground pool installation, with the surrounding hardscape, lighting, and planting handled as part of the same project rather than a follow-up year. Pool placement, depth, decking material, and screening all get decided alongside the rest of the property so the finished yard reads as one piece of work.

Irrigation and Sprinkler Systems
Designed, installed, programmed, and serviced irrigation systems for residential properties across Muncie and the I-69 corridor. Spring startup, summer programming, fall blowout, and the engineering decisions on head spacing, zone layout, and pressure that determine whether a system covers every square foot or leaves dry strips along the fence line. We design new systems on properties with a major lawn or planting investment, and we retrofit existing systems that were installed by previous crews and never adjusted to what the property actually became.
Construction and Installation
Trees, shrubs, perennials, sod, structural plantings, drainage tile, and grade work installed by the same crew that built the plan. Full installation across hardscape and softscape on design-build projects, or stand-alone installation when the plan came from somewhere else and you need a crew that can read it. Sod installation and drainage and grading run as separate pages because the homeowner search intent is distinct and each project shape stands on its own.

Maintenance
Ongoing lawn care, bed maintenance, seasonal cleanups, mulch refresh, fertilization, and plant health monitoring. The recurring work that keeps a built landscape looking right at year five and year ten, not just at handoff. Mulching is broken out as its own page because the spring window has a specific cadence homeowners ask about most.

Seasonal Services
Commercial and select residential snow and ice management across the Muncie area. Pre-event treatment, plowing, salting, and post-storm cleanup with a defined response window so the property is clear before the workday starts. Seasonal services also include spring prep and fall cleanup on existing maintenance accounts.

About Josh Perkins, Landscape Architect, and the Team You Will Work With
Josh Perkins, Landscape Architect, leads design at Plant Studio Landscape. The Landscape Architect title is a state-regulated credential, not a self-applied label, and it means the design work on your property is done by a registered professional rather than handed off to a contractor with a rendering tool. Josh’s portfolio in East Central Indiana runs from single-family Muncie lots near Walnut Street and Memorial Drive out to multi-acre properties along the I-69 corridor toward Anderson.
Amelia Zaharako, Landscape Designer, supports the design phase with planting plans and detail work. Brayden Romine runs project management on the build side, coordinating crews, materials, and schedule from site walk through handoff. The people who draw your plan are the same people you walk the finished property with at the end of the project. We do not subcontract the parts that matter.
The studio approach is small enough to keep continuity on every job and large enough to handle full design-build scope without pushing work to outside trades. That is the trade we built the practice around.

Where to Start
The right service depends on where your property is right now. Three common entry points cover most of the projects we take on.
If you are starting fresh on a new build, a property that has never been landscaped, or a yard you want to redesign from scratch, start with Design. A master plan gives you a single document that organizes hardscape, planting, drainage, lighting, and irrigation on one drawing so the build can sequence in phases without losing the plot.
If you have a property that was landscaped once and now needs ongoing care, start with Maintenance. We will walk the property, get a sense of what is already established, and put together a recurring schedule that keeps the work looking right through Indiana’s full season cycle. If the lawn already has an irrigation system that has not been blown out or programmed correctly for the season, Irrigation and Sprinkler Systems is the right place to start instead.
If the project is a specific outdoor living goal, a patio you actually use, a pool that fits the property, a hardscape upgrade, an irrigation system that finally waters every square foot, or outdoor lighting that lets the property keep working past sundown, go straight to the category that fits and we will start the conversation there. If the scope grows during the site walk, we pull in Design as the next step.

Schedule a Property Consultation
A first conversation does not cost anything. We walk the property, listen to how you use the space, and tell you what we would do and what we would not do. We picture a world where the yard is the reason your home feels finished, not the project list that keeps stretching into next season. Call (765) 717-3917 or request a quote and we will get a site walk on the calendar.
